Celeste & The Vargansan

Station's Hell

A DND 5e Worldbuilding Project

A Purgatory that never ends. The Station's is a vast afterlife were the dead are dragged down to suffer, and the living come to repent, travelling on an endless train across the roots of space and time to realise their transgressions and find "Salvation"

TW: Gore, Themes of death & Campaign spoilers on this page.

Few benevolent, most not. Employees are the souls of the dead, reborn and repurposed to aid Passengers on their way. Most are simply given new bodies for their jobs, whereas some are gifted metal and weapons as their new flesh and blood. At the helm, deities, dead and barely living pull the strings, making life eternal once more.

Gods & Employees

Tasmin - Goddess Of Pestilence

The Archivist - Prince of Justice

Falke - Archdevil of Salmae

Portrait - Sybil Dubois-Marçon

Rendered Sketch - Sybil

Sybil is a Denizen, a sentient being made up of dead souls re-weaved into one. More specifically, she is made up of the real Sybil and her memories.

She is the first denizen the party takes along with them, and is also a cleric of Augustine, God of the mind and forbidden knowledge. The party is not happy with her choice of patron.

The backbone of Purgatory, Passengers are the living that are dragged down for their penance. Those that stay have a chance at freedom. Those that run into the depths of Purgatory are called "Dwellers", and never see the light of day again.

Alongside them are Denizens, soulless beings made by The Station to populate regions of Purgatory and aid them on their way.

Malachi & Junie

Passengers

& Denizens

The Hanged Man - Station's Tarot

Tarot Card Art - Malachi

Malachi is one of the many storekeeper NPCs within Stations Hell. An ex-follower of the Goddess of The Station herself, Malachi survives off bartering with lost passengers. He hopes to never see his patron again, lest he ends up beheaded, or worse.

Death & Regret - Jericho Ha'dyrr

Fully-rendered character art - Jericho

Jericho is an ex-employee of The Stations. Once a psychopomp under the archdevil, Falke, Jericho's afterlife has seen himself sworn to indentured servitude. He now aids passengers as a denizen, guiding them towards whatever fate may find them. He regrets the actions that led him to his own fate, yet barely remembers what brought him here.

Oathsworn Curse - Malachi

Rendered Sketch - Malachi

Like many tethered to the magical weave at The Station's core, Malachi is cursed with blight. The disease spreads, crystalising his soul into tufts of feathers, weakening his magic by the day.

Almost a God - Celeste

Rendered Artwork - Celeste Hoptskipp

Celeste has been an employee of the afterlife for eons, serving as a guide, technician, and lifetimes ago, its head of the now long-gone Ethics Committee.

However, centuries ago, Celeste was a brilliant sorcerer from The Aviary, an ancient floating city that studied far older, forbidden magics. She never knew such studies would bring her so close to divinity, yet so close to death.

Sickly Divinity - Augustine

Character Reference - Augustine

The Omen Weaver, god of forbidden knowledge, madness and the mind. His true form tend to drive his followers insane, so he sticks to this body to seem more… together.

His head disciple, arguably an almost perfect clone, tends to stick with a more feline form. He argues its more presentable.

Prophet's form shown, hover for Augustine.

Sea & Stars - Ah'khanme

Rendered Sketch - Ah'khanme

Goddess of the distant stars and depths of the sea, Ah'khanme is an ancient deity who has seen it all.

Rendered Combat Icons - Scuuths

Infernus (Left), Solei (Right)

The purposed beings of the Archdevil Falke and Tasmin, Goddess of Pestilence respectively.

Render Study - Valentine

A dragon turned drow, Valentine got dragged into The Station by the ankles, literally. He's still adjusting to the new material plane he's found himself stuck in.
